Indigenous Treaty Day

Today marks Treaty Day at École Ness.

As a class, we rotated through 8 different activities including: a welcome from North Star, a collaborative art activity, the reading and discussion of the book "Nous sommes les protecteurs de l'eau" ("We are Water Protectors" - hear the book read HERE) a community clean-up, smudging with Pam, and more!

Here are a few pictures from the morning. Bravo to all students who participated fully in all the activities! (And a big thank you to M. Dvorak for being with us in the afternoon.)

Friday Morning Airplanes!

Hello! Happy Friday!

This morning in Science we started a fun paper airplane project!

We had the choice between 5 different airplane designs and worked together in groups to follow the directions and get them folded up and ready to fly!

Our next step was the take some airplane measurements: the mass, the length and the wingspan.

Each group member took the measurements of their own plane and then a group average was calculated. We will compare the data of the planes next week and use this information to make predictions about what plane will fly the furthest and have the longest hang time. And then, the flight tests will begin!

Stay tuned to see our airplanes in flight!

Have a great weekend! :)

Hello! Happy Tuesday!
Today in Français we finished writing our song paragraphs, taking time to review/edit with a partner before handing in our final drafts.

Les aéronefs and Weekend Agenda Items

Hello! Happy Thursday!

Today in Science we were tasked with designing and building a simple aircraft.

Using a plastic straw as the main fuselage, we added and modified different wing-types using different types of paper to see which design would fly best.

After each design and test, we wrote down our observations and noted what modifications we planned on making to our aéronef before the next test.

We will finish up our final tests and conclusions on Monday. Please ask me about my aéronef designs  and what I found flew best so far!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend! :)

Students will receive more time in class on Monday to work, but taking time to do some writing/editing over the weekend is certainly an option! Both short paragraphs will be due no later than end-of-morning Tuesday. An overview of the writing task is posted in Teams.

3. Math Ratios Motif -  Non-track students - this task is now overdue. Students who were away at track on Tuesday may take until the end of lunch hour on Monday to have the task completed. Task is posted in Teams.
