Happy Last Day!

Hello families!

We had a great last-day-of-school morning together!

We started with holiday Math puzzles, then listened to a classic holiday song, Petit Papa Noël, then moved along to two holiday-themed Kahoots, and, after Phys Ed, finished our morning with Grinchématiques, a word scramble and a yummy treat!

The morning went by so quickly, Mme hardly had the chance to snap any pictures...

... but managed just these few.

The Grinchématiques questions!

Hard at work unscrambling French holiday words!

Eggnog in French? How DO you spell mittaines? Chéminée? 🤔

❆ ❆ ❆ ❆ ❆
Wishing you all a very safe, wonderful and restful winter break.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!
Joyeux Noël! Meilleurs voeux!
🎄

December Assembly, the Grinch and a Battleship Game!

Hello friends of learning! Happy Tuesday!

Today was a special day for our class; we were featured in our school-wide assembly!

We shared our Tomatosphere learning journey from start to end, and each one of us had a special part to read during the slideshow! (Keep your eye on your email, families! Our assembly video will be sent home later today!)

We also had a chance to celebrate 3 of our classmates - Steff, Simon and Hayden - as our "chevaliers par excellence." With a class full of amazing learners, it was a hard task to pick only three, but we are so proud of their hard work! Bravo!

After the morning assembly, we worked on our trickiest mystery picture yet (photos coming tomorrow) and played a coordinate-inspired game of battleship, compliments of the superfab Mme Scham!

We had a great morning together and look forward to one more day of learning before we so long to 2021 in room 208.

Have a great afternoon! Stay warm! :)

12 Days of Christmas!

Happy Friday!

Today in Math we worked in randomized groups of three to calculate the cost of the 12 days of Christmas. Using a pre-set price list, students approached the solution from many different ways, and learned that someone spent a lot of money on so, so many birds!

Wishing you all great weekend! :)

3-in-a-row! A 'plan cartésien' game!

Hello! Happy Wednesday!

Today in Math we played a fun game to help solidify our understanding of placing coordinates on a cartesian plane.

Working with a partner, or in a group of 3, we rolled a pair of dice, determined a coordinate pair, and then places it on our cartesian place game board.

The first player to mark three coordinates in a row was declared the winner! Fun!

Happy Monday!

Hello, friends of learning!

Today in Math, Mme Scham taught us another fun game; Tic Tac Toe multiplication!

Playing with a partner, we tried to outsmart (and out multiply!) each other to be the first to get three in a row!

What a fun way to practice our multiplication facts! :)

Tomato Plants and Tomato Haiku!

Hello! Happy Thursday!

The theme of this morning was tomatoes!

We had a chance to re-pot our tomato plants to bring home and also celebrated our tomatoes by writing and special tomato-themed Haiku! Many of us finished our drafts today and will be ready to publish our poems tomorrow. Be sure to check back to read our poetic words! 🍅

AGENDA

1. If you brought your tomato plant(s) home today, please be sure to set them up near a window and water them often! When time to replant again, there is no need to remove the plant from its current pot; the peat pot will break down in new soil allowing the roots to continue to grow and take root in its bigger home. Happy tomato growing! :)

Lecture Avec Partenaire

Happy Tuesday, friends of learning!

Today in Français we started the second "LA" of our "LALALA" daily reading time.
Today's "LA" stands for "Lecture Avec Partenaire" - Reading with a partner.

When reading with a partner, it's important to: each be reading the same book, read at a good volume, follow along on the page with what our partner is reading, help our partner if they're stuck on a word that we're familiar with, stay on task and read for the entire time, discuss (in French!) what we've read and what we've learned.

We will continue working on "Lecture Avec Partenaire" this week before adding in our next "LA."

Please ask me about the book I read today during LALALA. What was the text about? What new words did I read/learn?

Assembly and NetMaths

Hello! Happy Wednesday! Happy December!

We started our day today with our November (virtual) assembly!

We finished our morning with Math. Today we created our NetMath accounts and had a chance to log into the NetMath site and complete the intro booklet that introduced us to how working in NetMath works. We will mostly be using this site in class, but students can access their account from home as well, and may be asked to finish-up class-assigned tasks from time to time. (A link to the NetMath site has been added under the 'Helpful Websites' menu on the right-hand side of the blog page).

Please ask me about some of the questions and tasks I completed during the "intro à NetMath" task I completed today!
