Hello, families!
Exciting 'return-to-normal' changes are coming to our school day!
Here's what's new, starting this week:
1. Locks on our lockers!
We practiced using locks last week, and tomorrow's the day we will get our very own lock to put on our locker! We'll now be able to leave our backpacks, phones and all other extras there during the day.
2. Locker stops!
We will begin following a true middle school routine that has us visiting our lockers to switch-up our supplies after periods 2 and 6 rather than remaining in the classroom for this time. We will have 5 minutes to get to our lockers, switch up our gear as needed, grab a quick snack if desired and then head to our next class. This will help us prepare for next year when having supply bins in our homeroom (which was primarily introduced because of COVID) is phased out. This movement will take some time getting used to, but we are excited for this next big step!
3. Lunch time!
We will now eat lunch at the beginning of the lunch hour (11:50-12:10) and then head outside afterwards! Cell phones will stay in our lockers while we are eating and can be collected to use once we head outside at 12:10. The whole school will now be on the same noon hour schedule.
4. Entrance and dismissal
We will continue lining up with their our group in the morning and wait to see our teacher for entry. Our dismissal remains mostly unchanged, but may take a few minutes longer now that we are managing lockers at the end of the day.
We expect some growing pains and adjustment periods with all of these changes, but are excited to be making these steps forward at this point in our school year!
Please be sure to check in with me this week to see how everything is going! :)
