Happy 100 Day!

Hello, friends of learning! Happy Friday! Happy 100th day of school!

We had a great morning celebrating 100 days of learning together!

First up, a 100-day themed 'Would you rather!'

Some of the votes were pretty close, but in the end we voted for 100 minutes of Phys Ed! Fun!

Next up, "Le défi de 100 secondes." How many push-ups and chair sits can you do in 100 seconds? How many times can you print your name or hop on one foot? After estimating our totals, we put ourselves to the test to see if our predictions were correct!

We finished our morning with a 100-Day-Amazing-Race challenge. The last (and best?!) 'stop' was taking a selfie in the hall using the AgingBooth app (hilarious!) and eating a yummy popsicle in celebration of all our hard work so far this year!

Hello families! Happy Tuesday!

It was a busy morning in Room 208!

We started our day with our monthly (virtual) assembly, followed by a fun school-wide Festival du voyageur themed Kahoot! Hé Ho!

Next up, our new 'discussion à l'orale' theme "Les animaux!" After reviewing the daily question, script and new vocabulary, we chatted with our table partner. What animal do YOU think makes the best pet?

Moving on to Math, we did a fun 22-2-22 themed Math puzzle and after a few calculations (for 2 minutes with 2 partners), discovered the answer was... 22!

Here is the puzzle we solved in class.

Here is a more challenging puzzle that we did not have a chance to solve since our morning was so busy! Try it at home tonight and share your answer with Mme tomorrow! (Hint: The answer most likely includes the digit 2.)

We ended the morning with a celebration of our Science design projects!

Gathering in randomized groups of 4-5, we were each able to show and share a bit about our project and put on any finishing touches required before handing our work in to Mme Careen.

What great work! Quel beau travail!

Happy Monday-tines!

Hello friends of learning! Happy Monday!

We had a busy morning together in Room 208.

We started with Math, working with our table partners to solve heart-themed algebra equations.

We then moved on to colour mystery math pictures!

Will you be my Math-entine?

In Français, we started our new daily discussion theme, "Les loisirs" and started our novel study, Zamboni. We'll be working through the novel study together in class over the next few weeks. (If ever we're away from school, the daily chapter and chapter questions will be posted in Teams so that we can stay up-to-date with the story).

Today we learned that the story is about a boy who is a goalie for his hockey team, and that he really likes being goalie. We also learned that there is a connection with a Zamboni and the Zamboni driver. I wonder what we'll read in Chapter 2?

Mystery Math and les grattes-ciels!

Hello! Happy Friday!

Today in Math we finished reading the book Mystery Math by David Adler. This book introduced us to how we can use letters in Math to help us solve Math mysteries. We will be exploring the idea of writing equations using letters (variables) in Math starting next week.

Also in Math, Mme introduced us to the activity "Les grattes-ciels" (Skyscrapers) which we worked on in randomized groups of 3. Please ask me about the rules of the game and how my group did!

Mobiles

Hello, friends of learning!

Today in Math we worked with a partner to create our own Math mobiles. Using an empty template with a pre-determined total and pre-set shapes, we set out to create as many different versions of the mobile as we could. So fun!
